Follow the exact route we took through the Pilbara to four of Western Australia's best kept free camps.
This GPX file pack covers the full leg featured in Episode 7 of our half lap of Australia, from heading east out of Nullagine on Skull Springs Road, through to packing up at Carawine Gorge before heading into Marble Bar.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
▪ Skull Springs camp waypoint
▪ Eel Pool camp waypoint (often confused with Running Waters)
▪ Running Waters camp waypoint
▪ Carawine Gorge camp waypoint
▪ Drive route from Nullagine to Marble Bar via all Camps
All files are in standard GPX format and work with all major navigation apps and devices including Hema, Gaia GPS, Garmin units, and any other GPX-compatible system.
WHY YOU'LL WANT THIS PACK
Two of these camps are well off the beaten track and confusing to navigate to without precise coordinates. Eel Pool in particular is often mistaken for Running Waters, and the track in is overgrown with significant washouts. Having the exact waypoints saves you hours of guesswork and the frustration of arriving at the wrong spot.
These are some of the most rewarding free camps in the Pilbara, with spring-fed water, paper bark forests, rope swings, and gorge walls that look like they shouldn't exist out here. No fees, no crowds, just remote bush camping at its best.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
▪ 4WD with high clearance recommended, especially for the Eel Pool track
▪ Carry plenty of water, fuel, and recovery gear
▪ No phone reception at any of the camps
▪ Best visited in the cooler months (April to October)
▪ Always check road conditions before heading out as tracks can be impassable after rain
