Newman 4WD Loop GPX Files: Kalgan's Pool, Eagle Rock Falls, Hickman Crater & More
Planning a 4WD trip to the Newman backcountry? These GPX files are everything you need to confidently navigate one of Western Australia's most rewarding remote loops, including several tracks that don't appear on any mainstream mapping app.
Based on our recent week-long expedition through the Pilbara out of Newman, this GPX bundle covers the full loop including Wonmunna Gorge, Kalgan's Pool, Bella Pools, Three Pools, Eagle Rock Pool, Eagle Rock Falls, Hickman Meteorite Crater, Punda Campground and the Punda Rock Art Site.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Detailed GPX track files for every leg of the loop
Waypoints for all major destinations and campsites
Marked tracks for shortcuts and connector routes that don't appear on standard mapping apps
Compatible with Hema Explorer, Gaia GPS, OziExplorer, Garmin and most major GPS navigation apps
WHY THESE GPX FILES SAVE YOU TIME
Several of the connector tracks we used aren't documented anywhere online and saved us serious time and distance versus the standard published routes. If you're heading out to multiple locations on a single trip, having the right tracks loaded before you leave Newman can be the difference between a relaxed multi-day adventure and a frustrating series of dead ends.
WHO THIS IS FOR
These tracks are designed for properly equipped 4WD vehicles with high clearance, recovery gear and a sense of adventure. Some sections involve rocky creek beds, water crossings and washouts. We don't recommend this loop for AWD vehicles, soft-roaders or anyone without prior remote 4WD experience.
IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE YOU GO
A free BHP Rail Access permit is required to access most of these locations. Permits are available from the Newman Visitor Centre or online before you travel. Always carry adequate water, fuel, recovery gear and a PLB or satellite communicator. There is no phone signal across most of the loop. Check track conditions with the Newman Visitor Centre before departing, especially during and after the wet season.
